Two schoolboys, Mishka and Dimka, are preparing for the school classes competition. A couple of days before it day Mishka falls into the river. He can’t swim, but fortunately gets rescued by a homeless dog. Shortly after the four-legged friend is caught by an animal control, and only two boys and their lovely classmate Helena can save Sawa from death. But they have to ignore the school competition, while the attendance is strictly obligatory.

The kids have to make difficult choices, which they’d face more than once in their life: friendship vs duty, personal happiness vs public welfare.

The events twist into a true detective story, which finally turns out to be a tender lesson of friendship, empathy and affection.

Secrets of the Palace Revolutions. Russia, XVIII Century

“Secrets of the Palace Revolutions” is a big historical project, directed by Svetlana Druzhinina – an acknowledged Russian director, best known for the trilogy “Gardemariny”.

After Emperor Peter I killed his only heir prince Alexey and issued the Decree of Succession, which provided that the Tsar would choose his own successor. But Peter I himself  failed to do so before his death in 1725.

In the decades that followed, the absence of clear rules of succession left the monarchy open to intrigues, plots, coups, and countercoups.

The series has 10 Films, and follows the reign of Romanov dynasty during the Era of The era of Palace Revolutions.

Not by Bread Only

Based on the same-name novel by Vladimir Dudintsev

During the post-WW2 reconstruction in Russia, bald-headed technocrat Drozhdov equates communism with the empowerment of the ordinary man over the arrogant “specialness” of genius. Dedicated scientist Lopatkin takes refuge in Moscow with the potty, brilliant old inventor Busko. Lopatkin works tirelessly on his invention, embarking on a roller-coaster of rejection and acceptance, his work vilified, plucked apart and plagiarized by colleagues, particularly by his nemesis Drozhdov. Drozhdov’s wife Natasha, alienated from her cold, controlling husband, is increasingly drawn to Lopatkin, whom she knew when they both taught at the same school. Soon she runs away from her husband and happily keeps house for the two absent-minded ex-professors Lopatkin and Busko. Natasha is ready to give Lopatkin her own life, love and faith. Lopatkin is eager to sacrifice his life for the idea, doing the utmost for his motherland.

Actress

A film “Actress” was one of the cinematography remarkable events. Released in 2007, this movie didn’t fit well into a common idea of contemporary motion pictures. A famous Russian director Stanislav Govoruhin had no intention to create a box-office hit. His attention was focused on problems and imperfections of ordinary people.

The movie displays things as they are – but still slightly romances real life. The storyline is based on a small episode of a theatre actress life, which is out of luck in love and is badly casted. She dreams of fruitful career and family happiness.

A lead character, Anya, lives in a small chamber in a dormitory. Her close friend lends Anya support and gives her advisory opinion. One evening they were amusing leisure by playing patience and drinking vodka neat. This moment turns out to be a tipping point for Anya. Her life changes cardinally. Anya finds love and gets a long-awaited part in a beloved theatre. Thus she shifts up from failure to truly happy girl which has everything she dreamed of.

Bless a Woman

By the story of Irina Grekova “The hostess”.
